The Arch / Info for Employers
Ways to get involved
Employer Partnerships: We are looking for firms that would like to provide mentorship on a recurring basis. We recognize work experience with other design, planning, and construction professionals is a valuable compliment to an accredited education. Students may propose work periods with professionals in related fields. For more information, please contact Prof. Marcus Carter, Assistant Professor, .
SoA Career Fair: Each spring the School of Architecture hosts a Career Fair that is open to registered employers and the entire student body. On average, 30 firms attend to identify applicants for job opportunities and the ARCH Internship / Co-op program.
RPI Handshake: We encourage all firms interested in hiring talent at our school to register in RPI’s Handshake database. This portal is increasingly used by employers and students to find each other, and is one of the protocols established by the CCPD at RPI (Center for Career and Professional Development) to register offices partnering with RPI students during their internships. For assistance with registering your office with the CCPD/Handshake, please contact .
AXP Credits
Students that have registered with NCARB may choose to fulfill AXP credits toward their licensure as part of their work experience. Opportunities to fulfill credits should be clarified with the students in advance.
SCHEDULE AND INTERVIEW PROCESS
Rensselaer Architecture students will be available for Internships during the Summers (Mid-May through Mid-August), throughout their Architecture Education. Students typically graduate from the program in May.
Arrangements for interviews and dates of employment will be made directly between the employer and the student. Employers are not obligated to hire students. Students must be assigned a mentor, and are required to report to their advisor during their work period. In order for students to be designated as having an internship, co-op or civic engagement experience they are required to present an offer letter on company letterhead.
