Leandro Piazzi is an Argentinian practicing architect, urban designer, and professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he leads comprehensive design studios and teaches within the building technology sequence of the core curriculum. Prior to joining Rensselaer, Piazzi taught at Universidad Andres Bello (Chile), Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina), Universidad Torcuato di Tella (Argentina), and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain).

Piazzi holds a Master in Advanced Architecture from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) and a Bachelor of Architecture from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina). He has been invited as a guest reviewer at prestigious institutions including Harvard GSD, Yale SoA, Syracuse SoA, and Universidad de la República (Uruguay).

From territory to detail, his research delves into the exploration and construction of images, texts, and physical devices that address the social, environmental, and architectural conditions and consequences of everyday tectonics throughout the Americas.

Since 2016, Piazzi has been a founding partner of the architectural firm Balsa.Crosetto.Piazzi, which specializes in the design, development, and construction of affordable housing, as well as agricultural and social infrastructure. Their professional work has earned them invitations to lecture at prestigious institutions, congresses, and biennials across Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Spain, Italy, and the United States.

His collaborative work has been showcased in several exhibitions, including the Argentine Pavilion at the XVIII Venice Architecture Biennale 2023, the Latin American Architecture Biennale (BAL 2019) organized by Universidad de Navarra (Spain), the “Becoming” Spanish Pavilion at the XVI Venice Architecture Biennale 2018, and “The South America Project” Pavilion (SAP / Harvard GSD) at the XIV International Architecture Biennial of Buenos Aires.
