Tsuyoshi Tane Is a Japan-born, Paris-based architect investigating the relationship between past memory and future architectural intervention. After graduating from Hokkaido Tokai University in 2002, Tane gained professional experience in Japan, London, Denmark and Paris. Tane previously founded DTG Architects in 2006 along side Dan Dorell and Lina Ghotmeh before founding Atalier Tsuyoshi Tane in 2017. He has been recognized for numerous projects throughout the past decade including the Kofun Olympic Stadium Japan 2020, Todoroki House in Valley 2017, and the Hirosaki Museum of Contemporary Art 2020. Tane has been awarded the French Ministry of Culture Architecture prize, European Union Mies van der Rohe award 2017, and the 67th Japanese Ministry New Face Award of Minister of Education Award for fine arts.
Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane, founded by Tane in 2017 seeks to bring past memories of places to the forefront of their projects. These past memories become the framework for the development of interventions through what they call “Archeology of the Future.”
“We believe that architecture begins from the memory of the place, the memory that can be continued from the past, that will continue to the future.”
Their work includes The Garden House 2023, Tokyo Imperial Hotel Expansion, and Archeology of the Future Exhibition in the Swiss Architecture Museum.
We look forward to seeing you at this lecture.
