Selma Cohen is an educator and an academic copyeditor and translator with a background in literature and language studies. She earned her Licentiate in Modern Literature from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina. Furthering her academic pursuits, she was awarded a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Spanish and Latin American Literature from Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey.
With her professional expertise in academic translation and copyediting, Cohen has contributed to various scholarly works, including books, book chapters, articles, and conference papers. Cohen has also been deeply involved in teaching. Throughout her academic career, she has taught a wide range of courses in Spanish Language and Latin American literature and culture at undergraduate and graduate levels at Rutgers University and the University at Albany, SUNY.
In 2022, Cohen joined the Rensselaer School of Architecture as a faculty member in the school’s Latin America semester-abroad program where she teaches courses on Latin American Studies and Traveling Narratives aimed to assist the students’ immersion and foster their cultural appreciation and global awareness
