Rensselaer School of Architecture continues its Spring 2024 Lecture Series this Wednesday, February 28th, 5:00 pm, at EMPAC with the lecture “Freedom Generation” by Jan Vondrák and Jan Mach.
Jan Mach and Jan Vondrák, founded their practice, Mjölk in 2008, a practice focused on a youthful discovery of place and context. Their projects are anchored by the nature of freedom that they believe is essential to the creative process.
Mach and Vondrák studied in Liberec, Czech Republic, and remained in Liberec to continue answering their curious ambitions of space-making. Beginning from small-scale pavilions and homes to schools and residential blocks, the studio crafts desires to reality while acknowledging and enriching its sense of place. The studio has been recognized for its state-of-the-art architecture in various locations of various scales including Klouboucká lesní Headquarters (2022), Montessori Kindergarten Jablonec nad Nisou(2020), The Guard Patrol (2021), and many more.
Through discovering the unique qualities of contexts and embracing new possibilities of technology for architectural sustainability, they share with us projects that define their values of space-making as a continuation of freedom and play.
We look forward to seeing you at this lecture.
