Dr. James Richardson, P.E., Ph.D., is a professional in the field of Structural Engineering and Specialty Structures. With a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium, and a range of international experiences, including a stint as a Visiting Researcher at Princeton University, James has cultivated a focus on structural optimization. James also holds a B.Sc. In Applied Mathematics (University of Cape Town), a B.Eng. and an M.Sc. (Vrije Universiteit Brussel).
Currently serving as the Bedford Visiting Professor at RPI and as the Principal at One Hermitage in New York City. James brings expertise to both academia and the consulting industry. His professional journey includes roles such as Director of Structural Engineering at Assembly OSM and Associate at Werner Sobek, along with contributions to firms like Thornton Tomasetti. James is a member of the ASCE Aesthetics in Design committee and former member of the ASCE Optimal Structural Design committee.
