“Digital Craftsmanship in Architecture“
Rensselaer School of Architecture’s Fall 2023 Lecture Series continues this Wednesday September 27, at 5:00pm at EMPAC with the lecture “Digital Craftsmanship in Architecture” by Lucas ter Hall of Studio RAP.
Studio RAP is an architectural design company that combines the power of computational design with innovative digital fabrication methods. Their team consists of architects, designers, roboticists, programmers and researchers. Studio RAP explores innovative technology and tries to improve the way we design, produce, manage and build architecture.
Studio RAP is based in Rotterdam, surrounded by robots in an industrial atmosphere where they discover and realize challenging architecture. In close collaboration with their clients Studio RAP designs from vision to detail. With diagrams, visuals and prototypes Studio RAP makes the design process clear and insightful. With experience in design, fabrication and contracting Studio RAP delivers unique buildings within time and budget. In their workshop in the Innovation Dock in Rotterdam Studio RAP develops innovative building processes together with extraordinary designs.
Together with robots the studio challenges the traditional way of building and rethink the architectural profession. This results not only in expressive buildings but also in a thorough hands-on approach to solve problems in the building industry. Studio RAP’s clients vary from municipalities and multinationals to private individuals. They’re characterized by a shared passion for innovation and design.
We look forward to seeing you at this lecture.
