RAFAELA BEHRENS / TRANSSOLAR:
“Climate Engineering is all about People”
Transsolar is an international climate engineering firm determined to create exceptional, highly comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces with a positive environmental impact and which fosters innovation in the built environment. They believe our world deserves better than building-as-usual – over-engineered systems supporting static, placeless, unhealthy and uninspiring environments. Design and engineering must work together to reimagine the spaces that shape our lives.
Transsolar’s approach to climate engineering is a paradigm shift in using low tech design, vernacular architecture, and thermal comfort principles for a people-centered design that have minimal impact on the environment. They enable:
- User-centered design and access to natural light and air for improved occupant productivity
- Site-specific, dynamic environments for a sense of identity and delight
- Comprehensive design for simpler, smaller, cost-effective and robust building systems
- High performance in harmony with inspiring architecture
Rafaela Behrens, an architect with extensive studies in the area of sustainability, seeks to transmit her knowledge to achieve a design that is respectful of the environment and ensures people’s comfort. She is an associate at the New York City office and her strong graphic skills allow her to transmit and visualize complex data analysis and technical solutions in a simple way to promote the Transsolar mission: Connect Ideas and Maximize Impact.
