3XN / Process and Projects.
Rensselaer School of Architecture continues its Fall 2021 Lecture Series this Monday, October 25th at noon with the online lecture “3XN / Process and Projects” by Jeannette Hansen and Jens Holm, partners at the renown Danish firm 3XN Architects.
Guided by a vision based on deep research into human needs and behavior, 3XN is one of the world’s most innovative architectural practices. Now based in Copenhagen, 3XN was originally founded in Aarhus, Denmark, in 1986 and quickly developed a reputation for creating buildings of substance with compelling aesthetics, supported by a solid theoretical foundation. Today they have offices in Stockholm, Sydney, New York and London. In 2007, 3XN established GXN, a research and development partner company.
Their international breakthrough came with the Danish Embassy (1999) in Berlin and Muziekgebouw Concert Hall (1997 competition) in Amsterdam. In 2005 they won the competition for the Museum of Liverpool that opened in 2011. Recent projects include the International Olympic Committee Headquarters (Olympic House, 2019) in Lausanne — considered one of the most sustainable office buildings in the world; and the recently completed Cube Berlin (2020), built around in-depth research into 21st century workplace use and considered one of the smartest buildings in Europe. Upcoming projects include the Sydney Fish Market and Quay Quarter Tower in Sydney (2023); and T3 and Aqualuna in Toronto (2022).
