Rensselaer School of Architecture continues its Spring 2021 Lecture Series this Thursday February 17th at noon with the online lecture “Under” by architect Rune Grasdal from world renown firm Snøhetta.
Since kick starting its practice in1989 with the competition-winning entry for the New Library of Alexandria (Egypt), Snøhetta has maintained its original trans-disciplinary approach, integrating architectural, landscape, interior, graphic design, and product design into its projects.
Some of Snøhetta’s most notable works include the Norwegian National Opera in Norway, and the National September 11 Memorial Museum Pavilion at the World Trade Center in New York. More recently, Snøhetta completed Europe’s first underwater restaurant, Under, in Norway; the expansion to the San Franscisco Museum of Modern Art; and the design for Norway’s new banknotes.
Rune Grasdal, lead designer of Under restaurant, will present such unique project and expand on the firm’s integrative design approach.
