WeWork is an American company that provides shared workspaces for technology startup subculture communities, and services for entrepreneurs, freelancers, startups, small businesses and large enterprises. Founded in 2010 has scaled to over 5000 employees serving 100,000 members in 86 cities all over the world. As of January 2019, WeWork had a valuation of roughly US$47 billion and manages 10,000,000 square feet (930,000 m2) of office space.
The lecture will introduce WeWork, its approach to data management in built environment and explore what data landscape is available to us today.
Adam Koogler is a Senior Design Director at WeWork. During his time there, he has been instrumental in the launch and scaling of WeWork’s Powered by We business which brings WeWork’s data-driven approach to designing, building, and operating workspace directly to owners’ owned or leased spaces. He currently overseas design excellence for Powered by We projects across WeWork’s global footprint.
Prior to joining WeWork in 2015, Koogler worked for award-winning architecture firms including SHoP Architects, Ennead, REX and Asymptote. His independent work has been exhibited under the name CommonPractice at Columbia University, the Storefront for Art and Architecture, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Koogler earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati. He has taught courses in architecture and interior design at Pratt Institute, New York Institute of Technology, and the University of Cincinnati.
