RetrofitNY / Saul Brown [BldgSci Lecture]
Thu Mar-28, 12pm @ Greene 101:
Retrofit_NY / Saul Brown.
The second lecture for 2019 Building Science Lecture Series exploring building sciences in the 21st Century will be held on Thursday, March 28 at 12-1 pm in the Greene 101, with the lecture by Saul Brown from RetrofitNY focused on scaling, affordable net-zero energy buildings for multifamily housing. This lecture to open to the whole school.
NYSERDA’s RetrofitNY initiative is revolutionizing the way New York State renovates buildings to approach or achieve net-zero energy performance, creating scalable solutions that will dramatically improve energy performance while enhancing aesthetics and comfort. Based on the successful EnergieSprong model begun in the Netherlands and being rolled out across Europe, RetrofitNY is working aggressively to develop a cost-effective, standardized approach to meet New York State’s energy goals while creating significant new business opportunities in the process.
RetrofitNY project manager, Saul Brown, will discuss the “EnergieSprong” approach to NZE retrofits that has revolutionized Dutch social housing and how RetrofitNY is adapting this to the New York State market. Six prototypical solutions from RetrofitNY’s first design round and the frontiers for introducing a manufacturing approach to building and installing NZE solutions will be discussed.
