Rhett Russo’s “DuneJars”
Faculty Work:
The DuneJars were completed at the European Ceramic workcenter in Oisterwijk, The Netherlands in 2018, as part of the Brown’s Traveling Fellowship. The DuneJars are a series of porcelain vessels that are designed to amplify light by employing the convex and concave morphologies of sand. Cast from translucent porcelain, the interiors are illuminated using LED’s to allow the jars to diffuse and reflect light into intricate and unexpected patterns. DuneJar II, received a Juror’s Award from the Wayne Art Center as part of the 24th International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Fine Craft in 2018.
