Cody Seipp’18 final project featured in Dezeen

Recent BArch graduate, Cody Seipp, had his final project for Amazon’s “hyper-designed” headquarters in Detroit featured in the influential architecture and design website, Dezeen.
Seipp’s project imagines the city of Detroit in 2051 after the major redevelopment orchestrated by the retail giant, Amazon. This futuristic condition offers an alternative outcome to real-life events. Although Detroit lost in the shortlisting to become home to Amazon’s second headquarters earlier this year, Seipp created a narrative in which Detroit won the bid by giving Amazon full control “over Detroit’s policies, activities, and redevelopment operations” in return for major investment. In Seipp’s ficticious future, Amazon developed the city with the final goal of hosting the World Expo in 2051, 200 years after the first was held in the United Kingdom.
