Exhibition:

CASE’S Bottle Transitional Shelter (BoTS) at Industry City.

CASE / RPI is very proud to be part of WANTED Design and Open Studios at Industry City. Their newest project – The Bottle Transitional Shelter (BoTS). BoTS is a testbed for environmental analysis of a new kind of shelter for disaster relief. Made with a special interlocking, plastic bottle reused as a building block, BoTS embodies an integrated approach to waste and shelter for the victims of conflict and natural disasters. CASE worked under the leadership of Lydia Kallipoliti and Mohamed Alnaggar at RPI and with funding from Friendship Bottles.

BoTS will be on display in the courtyard between Buildings 1 and 2 at Industry City. Take the D,N,R trains to 36th St in Brooklyn and walk under the Gowanus to 36th and 3rd st. Make your way in to Building 2 and go to the courtyard. You’ll find BoTS there. In the WANTED Design exhibit indoors, you’ll find the amazing “Second Lives” pavilion made from the same kind of bottle, by Lydia Kallipoliti’s studio. Both projects from benefited Mohamed Alnaggar’s structural engineering guidance.
