Faculty Position:

VISITING PROFESSORSHIP
SCHOOLS OF ARCHITECTURE AND ENGINEERING.

The School of Architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is seeking to fill its distinguished Bedford Visiting Professorship, a three-year, part- time contractual (non-tenure-track) appointment that will bring an internationally renowned structural engineer to the School to oversee our interdisciplinary courses designed for architecture and civil engineering students.  The term of this position will be August 2016 – July 1, 2019.

The successful candidate will be a structural engineer with an earned doctorate (or foreign degree equivalent), and will have a record that demonstrates commitment to interdisciplinary education, practice and research. The successful candidate will also demonstrate exemplary experience and leadership in the design and construction of progressive buildings through at least five years of progressively responsible related professional activity.  Candidates must have a body of work that demonstrates expertise in building systems, systems integration, and in technologies supporting innovative approaches to design and construction.  They should have extensive practical experience and a record of exemplary leadership in the design and delivery of innovative engineering / architectural projects.  Candidates engaged in the leadership of exemplary building engineering practices who collaborate with leading architectural professionals are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach interdisciplinary courses in both a seminar and studio format, and will be responsible, in coordination with assigned School of Architecture and Engineering faculty members, to organize and lead an 8-10-day traveling workshop annually, typically at the end of May / beginning of June.
