“INHABITED TERRITORIES. FROM INTIMATE TO PUBLIC”: CRISTIAN NANZER
Argentinean architect Cristian Nanzer developed his practice in his native province of Cordoba, where his design work ranges from private residences in partnership with Mariela Marchisio, to public scale projects with several design partnerships and collaborations. Among his practice’s selected wining competition proposals are the new Sierras Hotel Casino & Convention Center in Alta Gracia, the Headquarters for the Professional College Architects in San Francisco, and the extension for UNC’s School of Architecture (currently under construction). His recently completed Cordoba Cultural Center & Historical Archive, a major piece of urban architecture, is currently a finalist for the 2016 Mies van der Rohe Award for Latin American Architecture.
Nanzer graduated with a professional Arquitecto Diploma from Universidad Nacional de Cordoba, Argentina (FAUD / UNC), where he is currently a full-time Professor Chair profesor titular of the Architecture III and V Design Studios. At FAUD/UNC he is the co-director of the post-professional Master of Architectural and Urban Design (MADAUD) program and a founding member of TIPU, a permanent research studio dedicated to the design and development of “urban projects”. He is member of the “S.O.S. Ciudades” network and a visiting professor at Taller Sudamerica / Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires. In 2014 he was guest co-curator at Argentina’s International Biennale of Architecture , BIA-AR. His projects have been widely published in publications such as Summa+, Arkinka, PLOT, A+U, and others. His work was exhibited at the 2008 Venice Biennale of Architecture.
In Fall 2016, Cristian Nanzer together with Rensselaer School of Architecture professor, Gustavo Crembil will coordinate a joint-studio at Universidad Nacional de Cordoba as part of Rensselaer Architecture’s newly launched semester-abroad program in Latin America.
