Anna Dyson wins Women in Architecture Award
Faculty News:
ANNA DYSON NAMED INNOVATOR IN ANNUAL WOMEN IN ARCHITECTURE AWARDS
Professor and CASE Director Anna Dyson has been named “Innovator” in Architectural Record’s second annual Women in Architecture Awards, a celebration honoring five architects for their contributions to the field while highlighting the increasingly visible role women play in the architectural profession. Dyson is a professor of design, technology, and theory at the School of Architecture at Rensselaer and founding director of the Center for Architecture, Science and Ecology (CASE) at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, NY. Her work centers on collaborative research among diverse disciplines to develop new systems for building and energy generation.
Citing discrepancies between the number of women comprising student bodies at architecture schools and the number of women comprising licensed architects at firms and offices, editor-in-chief of Architectural Record Cathleen McGuigan says the annual awards recognition “aims to push the conversation about women in architecture forward to spotlight their accomplishments and encourage firms to promote women architects and their work.” The forum and luncheon honoring this year’s winners will take place October 6, 2015, at the Time & Life Building in New York City.
Anna Dyson is joined by awards recipients Billie Tsien, Meejin Yoon, Pat Sapinsley, and Marilyn Jordan Taylor. For additional information, please follow this Architectural Record link.
