THREE VOICES.

The Class of 1984 invites all to a special presentation on Friday, October 10th, where Daniel V. Hayden, Anne Schopf, and Scott T. Spencer will discuss their career paths and offer insights to working in the field of Architecture. The work and experiences of each of the presenters ranges drastically not just geographically, (from Copenhagen in Denmark to Seattle, Washington), but also in terms of the literal projects with which each presenter has been involved.

Daniel V. Hayden‘s work has been based in a strong Scandinavian modernist tradition and whilst working with design in general at all levels, “from product and building design to the design of some of the World’s largest bridges.” He is a partner at Dissing + Weitling which was selected this year together with Arup Engineers to design the replacement for the Champlain Bridge over the St. Lawrence Seaway in Montreal, Canada.

Anne Schopf is Partner in Charge of Design at Mahlum Architects, which has been increasingly recognized with multiple local, regional, and national awards. The firm’s most recent work, University of Washington’s West Campus Housing Phase I, has since received four national awards for design and planning. Additionally, the firm actively participates in “The 1%, giving back one percent of billable hours for Pro Bono community design work structured by Mahlum’s unique RFP process.”

Scot T. Spencer is Associate Director for Advocacy and Influence for the Annie E. Casey Foundation which aims to afford greater opportunities for children, families and communities to succeed in the Baltimore area. His previous work is in environmental advocacy, community development, architectural practice, and university relations in Baltimore and upstate New York. Currently, Scot chairs the board of Smart Growth America and co-chairs the Baltimore regional Sustainable Communities Initiative and serves on a number of other boards and commissions.

The event will begin at 1pm in the Greene Gallery on October 10th and will be followed by a reception.
