This first-year studio proposed a pavilion located in downtown Troy. The semester began with each student selecting a Japanese wood joint and producing a case study. Using drawings and models (both physical and digital), the students created transformation models based on operations like mirroring, scaling, and rotation. After several iterations of transformation, the site and program were presented to the students. They were asked to situate their model on the site, engage the ground plane, and evaluate their decisions based on scale, context, and movement. Additionally, students were asked to devise a unique program for each pavilion.
