DWELL: exhibition at Woodside Arts Center
/ Michael Oatman, Associate Professor /
DWELL: An exhibition curated by Michael Oatman and Leah Rico
Opening and Reception SUNDAY, October 9, from 5:30-8:30 PM Contemporary Arts Center, Woodside, South Troy. NY.
Beer provided by Brown’s Brewing, music by local stars SUPER 400.
DWELL features 6 site-specific works that question the conventions, symbols and role(s) of architecture across multiple platforms: history, the internet, performance and everyday habitation. From the houseless HVAC system of Tim Buwalda to the giant inflatable “Free WiFi” pin of Brian Kane; and the floating museum for the study of Utopian Societies, DWELL populates the woods and grounds of the CAC with iconic objects and invented remnants. Performance artists The Bridge Club have traced the CAC Woodside church’s rose window into the hillside, and Peter Edwards has constructed his first ever outdoor interactive color/audio work.
